What is MAT?

Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT) is a hands-on neuromuscular therapy focused on identifying and correcting muscle inhibition, the root cause of muscle tightness and pain. By addressing these underlying issues, MAT aims to improve the body’s overall function and performance, offering a more effective solution than simply treating symptoms.

Hello my name is Brandon Boettcher and my path into MAT wasn’t just academic — it was personal.

Like many athletes, I experienced periods of tightness, discomfort, and movement restrictions that didn’t fully resolve with traditional approaches. Stretching helped temporarily. Strength work helped somewhat. But something still felt incomplete.

That curiosity led me deeper into understanding how the nervous system and muscles interact — and eventually to Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT).

What resonated with me about MAT was its precision. Instead of assuming muscles are tight and need to be stretched, MAT asks a different question:

Are certain muscles not activating properly — and is that what’s creating stress elsewhere?

Through hands-on neuromuscular assessment and targeted activation work, I began seeing real changes — not just in range of motion, but in stability, strength, and confidence in movement.

Peak Biomechanics was created to bring this approach to people who want more than temporary relief. Whether you’re dealing with lingering pain, preparing to return to activity, or simply want your body to function better, my goal is to provide clarity and solutions rooted in biomechanics.
